Bill Campbell, Chairman of the Board, Intuit

Bill CampbellMr. Campbell assumed his role as chairman of the board of directors in August 1998. From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Campbell served as the president and chief executive officer of Intuit. Mr. Campbell additionally served as CEO of the company from September 1999 until January 2000.

During his tenure at Intuit, the company's market value grew from approximately $700 million to nearly $3.0 billion as the company solidified its position as the clear leader in tax, personal finance and small business accounting software. During that time, the company also invented a whole new class of Web-based finance businesses delivered through Quicken.com, Intuit's Web site.

For the three years prior to joining Intuit, Mr. Campbell was the president and chief executive officer of GO Corporation, a pen-based computing software company. Prior to that, Mr. Campbell was the founder, president and CEO of Claris Corporation, which was purchased by Apple Computer Inc. in 1990. Before starting Claris, he was Apple's executive vice president, group executive of the United States. Mr. Campbell joined Apple Computer in July 1983 as vice president of marketing. He added the title of vice president of sales in January 1984, and in September 1984, his duties were expanded to include distribution, service and support when he was promoted to executive vice president. In June 1985, he was named group executive of the United States. Mr. Campbell came to Apple from Eastman Kodak Company, where his last assignment was general manager of Consumer Products for Kodak Europe. Prior to joining Kodak, he was vice president of J. Walter Thompson, a New York based advertising agency.

Before entering the industry, Mr. Campbell was the head football coach at Columbia University for six years and he was recently appointed to the university's Board of Trustees. He is presently a director of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame. In August 1997, he was appointed to the board of directors at Apple Computer Inc. He also serves on the board of Opsware, Inc. (formerly Loudcloud). Mr. Campbell holds a Bachelors degree in economics and a Masters degree from Columbia University.

Ronald Conway, Founder and Managing Partner, Angel Investors, LP

Ronald ConwayRonald Conway is the Founder and Managing Partner of the Angel Investors LP funds. He worked with National Semiconductor Corporation in various marketing positions (1973-1979). Altos Computer Systems benefited under Ron's leadership as a co-founder, President and CEO, and as a member of the Board (1979-1990). Ron was ranked number six on the Forbes Midas List in 2007.

Mr. Conway led Personal Training Systems (PTS) for five years as President and CEO (1991-1995). PTS was acquired by SmartForce/SkillSoft and Ron served on their Board of Directors until September 2002. He has served on several Boards/Advisory Boards including: The Red Herring Magazine, AtWeb (sold to Netscape/AOL), SendMail, Bright Mail, Ask Jeeves, Napster, and Support.com, SNOCAP, Plaxo, Soliel Securities, Marimba, Metamatrix and AVP.

Mr. Conway is involved in community activities as a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer for The Altos Foundation (1993 - 2000), which has contributed over $10M to Bay Area Charities. He is on the development committees of UCLA, St. Francis High School, Sacred Heart Schools, and UCSF Medical Center. Mr. Conway serves as Chairman of the Development committee of Ronald McDonald House at Stanford and the Packard Children's Hospital. He co-founded the UCLA VC Fund whose investments benefit UCLA, and was a member of the DAPER VC Fund that benefits the Stanford Athletic Department (1999-2002). Mr. Conway is also on the Benefit Committee of the Tiger Woods Foundation.

John Denniston, Partner, Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers

John DennistonJohn Denniston came to KPCB from Salomon Smith Barney, where he was a Managing Director and head of Technology Investment Banking for the Western U.S., and also served on the Investment Committee for Salomon's direct investment venture fund and its venture capital fund-of-funds. Prior to Salomon, John was a Partner with the law firm Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, where he was the head of Brobeck's Venture Capital Practice Group, Co-head of its Information Technology Practice Group and a member of the Investment Committee for its venture capital fund.

Mark W. Flynn, Managing Partner, Trilogy Capital Partners

Mark W. FlynnMark Flynn formed Trilogy Capital Partners, a Menlo Park California based private investment firm in 1997. Prior to forming Trilogy, Mr. Flynn spent twelve years in investment banking with Salomon Brothers and Volpe, Brown & Whelan. During his investment-banking career Mr. Flynn primarily worked with technology and healthcare companies.

Mr. Flynn presently serves on the Board of several privately held companies and is a member of the Board of Regents of Saint John's University. He is a graduate of Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota and Harvard Business School.

Edward Mathias, Managing Director, The Carlyle Group

Edward MathiasEdward Mathias is a Managing Director of The Carlyle Group. He is based in Washington, DC. Prior to joining Carlyle in January 1994, Mr. Mathias was a member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors of T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., a major investment management organization. He was instrumental in the founding of The Carlyle Group and assisted in raising the firm's initial capital. Now focused on venture capital activities, Mr. Mathias serves as a member of the Investment Committees for Carlyle Venture Partners, Carlyle Europe Venture Partners and Carlyle Asia Venture Partners.

Mr. Mathias holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he presently serves as a Trustee.

David Shaffer, Executive Vice President, The Thomson Corporation

David Shaffer David Shaffer is executive vice president of The Thomson Corporation where he leads critical enterprise-wide initiatives focused on leveraging assets and driving operational effectiveness across the Corporation. In his role as EVP, Mr. Shaffer, serves on the Corporation’s management executive committee and reports directly to Thomson president and CEO, Dick Harrington. Mr. Shaffer also serves on the Thomson board of directors.

Before assuming his current position, Mr. Shaffer oversaw the successful transformation of Thomson Financial, a leading provider of information services and work solutions to the worldwide financial community, as its chief executive officer since 2002. Prior to joining Thomson Financial, Mr. Shaffer served as president and chief executive officer of Thomson Learning, where he developed the strategy of leveraging company resources to offer a full range of learning solutions that support customers throughout the learning process.

Mr. Shaffer joined The Thomson Corporation in April 1998 as president and chief executive officer of Thomson Publishing International. In November 1998, he assumed the role of chief operating officer of The Thomson Corporation responsible for the business strategy and management of its information and publishing activities in key market sectors including legal and regulatory, learning and educational publishing, financial, and scientific and healthcare information. He was appointed to the Thomson Board of Directors in 1998. Prior to Thomson, Mr. Shaffer was chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Jostens Learning Corporation, the nation's leading developer of K-12 educational software.

Mr. Shaffer's management and strategic planning career began with Dun & Bradstreet's Official Airline Guides, Inc. (OAG). Working his way up to president of OAG and vice chairman of Thomas Cook Travel Inc., he oversaw the acquisition of these businesses by Maxwell Communications Corporation PLC (MCC) in 1988. Mr. Shaffer then became chairman, president and chief executive officer of Macmillan Inc., and chairman of OAG. He also sat on MCC's board of directors and was responsible for the Maxwell/Macmillan Group's worldwide electronic information businesses. In 1993, he left Maxwell to become the president of the Educational and Professional Publishing Group at McGraw-Hill.

Mr. Shaffer is a member of the Advisory Board at Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, one of the top five graduate business schools in the world, and the William F. Achtmeyer Center for Global Leadership at Tuck Business School at Dartmouth University. He also sits on the board of directors of Affinity², the Girls and Boys Town of Southern California and Concours Consulting Group and spent three years on the Board of Trustees of La Jolla Country Day School.

Ram Shriram, Founder, Sherpalo

Ram Shriram Ram Shriram started Sherpalo in January, 2000 with the goal of applying his wealth of operating and company building experience to promising early stage ventures. As a technology industry insider for over 25 years, Ram has worked with companies large and small across all functional areas and through fluctuating business cycles. He was ranked number three on the Forbes Midas List in 2007.

Immediately prior to founding Sherpalo, Ram served as an officer of Amazon.com working for Jeff Bezos, founder & CEO. Ram came to Amazon.com in August, 1998, when Amazon acquired Junglee, an online comparison shopping firm of which Ram was president. While at Amazon, Ram helped grow the customer base during its early high growth phase in 1998/1999. Before Junglee and Amazon, Ram was a member of the Netscape executive team, having joined Netscape in 1994, before they shipped products or posted revenue. Ram drove the many partnerships and channels that Netscape employed to get massive distribution for its browser and server products during those now legendary early days of the Internet.

Ram is a founding board member of Google Inc. and 247customer.com. Ram also serves on the boards of Plaxo, Zazzle.com and PodShow. Ram serves on the advisory board of Naukri.com, a leading classifieds site in India, which has leading marketplaces in jobs, matrimony and real estate serving the Indian market.
